General Introduction to Gansu Province

Gansu ProvinceLocated in the northwest of China, Gansu is he cradles of Chinese civilization. Gansu has a long history and rich historical relics. With a total area of 450,000 square kilometers (173,700 square miles), Gansu has population of 23.7 million. There are many ethnic minority living in this place including Kazak, Mongolian, Tibetan, Hui, Dongxiang, Tu and Manchu. There is Shaanxi to the east, Sichuan to the south, Qinghai and Xinjiang to the west and Inner Mongolia and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region to the north.

 

Gansu Province, with its capital Lanzhou, is a famous ancient city in China. It is also the political, cultural and economical center of Gansu Province.

 

 

Best Time to Go Gansu

The annual average temperature of Gansu is about 0C to 15C. The lowest temperature occurs in January and is approximately -14C to 3C and the highest temperature is in July between 22C and 25C. Rainfall in Gansu is also rich for all seasons. The best time to visit Gansu is from Summer and Autumn. Winter is cold and the Spring is also cold and wet.

 

What to See in Gansu Province

Gansu has a long history which left the province a lot of historical relics and cultural sites. There are large area of desert in the province. If you want to experience the Chinese ancient silk road, Then Gansu is a good place to explore. Here you will find many sites related to Buddha culture, including the famous attractions Mogao Caves, Labrang Monastery, Bingling Thousand Buddha Caves and so on.

There are many cities in Gansu province. The capital city of Gansu is Lanzhou. It is also the political and cultural center of Gansu province. It is the second largest city in the northwest China.

Gansu Travel Tips

1.It is recommended anyone interested in art to visit the Buddhist cave grottoes, particularly Maijishan.

2.Generally, it is the early spring-dry season in Gansu. But, Xifeng has a little milder weather than other region.

3.It is getting cool and may rainy at this month. If you will visited highland area, it is cooler. Take warm clothes. If you come in early September, the weather is find at daytime, around 25C. It will 10C lower at night.

4. This is a cool province, I'm doing a report on it for social studies. I am learning a lot about the Chinese people.
